Things We're Thankful "Four"

Happy Turkey Day everyone! We hope you’re parked on your butt in front of the television watching football and eating copious amounts of food, because we sure are! Since it is a holiday, we decided to take a break from our analysis of the goings-on in the arena that is Sports and recognize how fortunate we are.

Things We’re Thankful “Four”
1. ACC Basketball. Such a storied history, particularly with the teams of Tobacco Road: Duke, North Carolina, and the often underestimated NC State. Now with the addition of Big East defects Boston College and Miami (okay, the ‘Canes don’t exactly count because they’re really a football school), there is no tougher (and better) conference in college basketball.
2. Contributing writer Malk G. Huzzah!
3. Wizznutzz.com. Best Wizards fan site EVER! And they heart our blog too!
4. Joe Gibbs back as the head coach of the Washington Redskins, and taking us out of our eternal “rebuilding” year. GIBBS, baby, GIBBS!
5. The undefeated Trojans of So Cal. It makes living in LA that much more bearable for Fendizzle. Will Reggie Bush be the second USC player in a row to take the Heisman Trophy?
6. Chicken wings. Cuz there’s nothing better than eating them wings and watching football. Mmmmm….VIKINGS!
7. ESPN – Pardon the Interruption RULES!
8. The Kwame Brown-Caron Butler/Chucky Atkins trade. Have fun dealing with Kwame on your team Jerry & Phil. Suckas!
9. One Tree Hill and The O.C. We love the drama on our…primetime dramas.
10. Having a roof over our heads, clothes on our backs, and food in our stomachs. Others aren’t as fortunate. C’mon, you didn’t think we were that shallow, did ya?
11. For two years in a row, we’re better than the Knicks & the Lakers.
12. The holidays – because Andrea & Fenella can see each other finally! Reunited…and it feels so good!
13. You. Yes, you reading this. We hope you heart our blog! Leave a comment! OR ELSE (wink wink, nudge nudge).

We got many responses (both good & bad) and suggestions for Round 2 of our Fantasy Boy Draft, and we thank you for them! Read on to see who made it to this round.

Fantasy Boy Draft Round 2

1. Jarkko of Wizznutzz. Not only is he a part of the crucialest Wizards fan site EVER, but he also has the sexiest beard this side of the Atlantic. Rrrrr baybee Rrrrrrrrrrr!

2. Peyton Manning. Colts Record: 10-0. QB Rating: 104.6. NFL MVPs: 2. Comedic Genius (as demonstrated in his MasterCard Commercials): Priceless. There’s nothing hotter than a sense of humor.

3. Shane Battier. Because he is hot and Duke was awesome. AND the Grizzlies are on a four-game winning streak – it’s Electric! (Woogie woogie woogie)
4. Antawn Jamison. Because he didn’t desert us like Larry, and because when he smiles, he lights up the entire MCI Center. Awwww….

5. Thierry Henry. We could watch this French footy player glide around the soccer field allll day long. Très beau!

6. Reggie Bush. Running back extraordinaire, Heisman candidate, USC Trojan. ‘Nuff said.

7. Champ Bailey. Okay, so we lost him in the trade for Clinton Portis and such. But…awww! What a cutie!

8. Joe (Jonathan Rhys-Meyers) in Bend It Like Beckham. We don’t blame Jess and Jules fighting over their fine soccer coach. We’d do the same!

9. Theo Epstein. Anyone who could both break the curse of the Red Sox AND compete with Tom Brady for the title of “Hottest Man in Boston” deserves to be on the list.

10. Chris Webber/Eric Montross. CWebb was Fenella’s high school love, and Andrea had a crush on the former UNC center in seventh grade.

Honorable Mentions:
Brian Westbrook – Hometown boy, just missed our draft…but we give him mad props

Carson Palmer – Another Trojan, but not quite round 2 material

Paul Hamm – Fenella’s not sold on this one

The Rock – Andrea thinks he’s too muscly; plus was WWE really a sport?

David Carr – Pretty boy QB of the Texans needs to do a little more than look hot

Derek Jeter/Mike Mussina/Tiki Barber – They’d be included in our draft if they didn’t play for the great evils…we mean, for the Yankees & Giants, respectively

Have a safe and happy holiday!

i think we're all thankful for the return of college basketball, but c'mon, calling the acc the toughest and best conference, i don't know about that one. let's take a little reality break here and talk about the big east conference for a moment. now, it's true, your fav conference did raid us and take away our best two football schools, but it served as a blessing in disguise because it predicated the formation of the greatest college basketball megaconference ever, the new BIG EAST!!! the 12 best teams in the big e are far deeper and superior than the little 12 team confernece known as the acc. plus, the big east tournament is played at madison square garden in nyc, the mecca of college basketball, which only further solidifies the big e's status as the supreme conference in college basketball. sorry all you duke and carolina fans out there, but ya gotta face the facts!!

Hey (Little) Ladies,

It's Malk G in the place to be. Over the weekend, I had a chance to watch some spectacular EuroLeague Basketball, featuring Juan Carlos Navarro, a player the Wizards drafted in 2002. Since last summer, I had been hearing about his great play, but got a chance to witness for myself exactly what my beloved Wizards are missing out on. Navarro seems to possess the tenacity and passing and shooting abilities that we're missing in the weakest link of out recent trade -- Chucky Atkins. Seriously, where's Chucky's shot? Is it in the Potomac River? The Reflection Pool? Maybe it hid out and erected a bungalow somewhere in Rock Creek Park!

Anyway, my mood has been a bit soggy due to the 'Zards' losing streak. I mean, I wasn't exactly optimistic about the road trip (especially in Cleveland), but I thought they'd at least salvage ONE victory. Ugh. Here's to hoping we bounce back tonight. (But, God, why couldn't we be hosting the Hawks?)

Malk G.

P.S. - Has anyone been tracking "Party John" Ramos' new D-League sentence? HE'S AVERAGING A DAUNTING 5 PPG!

I hate watching sports. So I have nothing to say. I'm too girly to be sitting around watching it. I rather go shopping and go get a manicure.
